ascii love token
By Caterina Duerte
This piece is part of Love-letters, a collection of digital works collated by guest curator Jess Hewett. Love-letters considers the possibility of love-letters as a mode of online writing that can escape problems of solipsism in girlblogging. This release offers love-letters as a collaborative assemblage of desire beyond any one given subject, dwelling on Deleuze’s provocation that “all writing is a love-letter”.

My name is Catarina, I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Lisbon, Portugal. My work often culminates in a transmedia creation, often exploring themes of the mind, such as memories and dreams, aiming to give form to sensations and fragments of the past, combining analog archive with new digital media.

In an attempt to make the digital intimate by printing a language usually confined to screens and folding it into a traditional Victorian love letter, ascii love token is as much a love letter as it is a reminder about love itself - its weight, persistence, and its immutable existence across time.
