I grew up listening to country music and bingeing tv westerns,
in my daydreams I was just like the men I saw on screen.
My work uses these forms of popular media to retrace my own regional identity / family dynamics / and relationship to gender.
Using redneck aesthetics and the hyper feminization of them as a lens for queer rural escapism.
I reflect on the spaces I grew up in, both the industrial (Cincinnati, OH) and the rural (Quenemo, KS) landscapes of the Midwest,
lovingly embracing the self identifiers of Redneck and the Rust Belt.
Searching for where I fit in.
